Online Cards Are Here for Locals and Tourists!

It’s been a long wait but the Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) has begun issuing electronic medical marijuana cards beginning today, March 5, 2019. Patients no longer have to wait for their card to come in the mail before accessing any dispensary in Hawaii. Now once you complete the certification the DOH will review your application and then email you a link that you can then use to print out your card. If you lose your card you can log into your account and print out a new one right away without paying any additional fees as was required in the past.

Visitors to Hawaii that have a medical marijuana card from their home state can now get a Hawaii Medical Marijuana Card if they meet the following requirements. First, the visitor’s medical marijuana card from their home state must be for a condition that is one of Hawaii’s approved conditions. If your condition is not one of Hawaii’s approved conditions your application will be rejected. Secondly, your state issued ID (which you have to upload along with a copy of your medical marijuana card) must be from the same state as your medical marijuana card. The visitor then pays the DOH fee of $49.50 and the application will then be reviewed by the DOH. Once it’s completed it’s review the DOH will email a link to the visitor to print out their card or they can simply show the digital version to the dispensary they wish to shop at. Visitors are allowed to purchase up to 4 ounces of product every 15 days and their card is valid for 60 days and can be renewed once per year.
