Edibles Are Cooking

Hawaii’s Governor, David Ige, signed House Bill 2097 (HB2097) which will allow Hawaii’s medical cannabis dispensaries to finally sell edible cannabis products. The law goes into effect on January 1, 2021 so we’ve got a few more months to wait before you can head to Maui Grown Therapies, Aloha Green, or any of Hawaii’s other medical cannabis dispensaries for your cookies, gummies, etc. We commend the Hawaii legislature and Governor Ige for passing and signing this bill as it has been a few years that our leaders have resisted adding this very necessary form of medical cannabis to the menu of Hawaii’s dispensaries. Be assured that dispensaries will ensure that packaging is child-resistant and is not colorful or in any way appealing to kids. Many patients respond better to edible cannabis products than they do with vaporizing or topicals because of how the liver converts THC into a much more powerful and long lasting 11-hydroxy-THC.
